Hi, I’m Scott Stagl, Founder and President of Cheering for Charlye Foundation. When Charlye was diagnosed with cancer, it touched my heart in a way I never expected. I had recently lost my brother to cancer, and it made me realize I hadn’t been there for him the way I wish I had been. I knew then that I wanted to do whatever I could to support Charly and her family through their journey.

Fast forward, and one of the most beautiful moments arrived- Charlye rang the bell and was declared cancer-free. One day Charlye said she wanted to give back to the community. She hopes to attend a prestigious college one day and wanted to build something meaningful that she could include in her application. More importantly, she wanted to help children facing the same journey she had endured. I wasn’t quite sure how to answer her. Then, while attending the Portland roadster show, I discovered that a race car I had driven in the 1990s was for sale, I went to look at it and ended up purchasing it.

That’s when the light bulb came on. Kathy and I have always believed in giving back. Every Christmas, we donate toys to children in need. This past year we doubled what we had donated before. We realized we could do even more this year. We could combine our passion for helping others our love of racing and create something truly special.

That is how Cheering for Charly foundation was born, alongside with Stagl Motorsports. Most kid love race cars. Through our foundation, the race car became much more than a vehicle- it became a source of excitement, hope, and joy. Children can sit in the car, take pictures, meet the driver and experience being part of the racing community. The racing world has welcomed us with open arm, allowing us to raise awareness to bring a smile to children and families facing childhood cancer

Today Charlye is helping build the foundation she inspired. Through her in involvement, she is earning the service hour and leadership experience needed for college, while making lasting difference in the lives of other children
